Access – Getting there

Located in Switzerland, 90km from Geneva, just as you enter the canton of Valais, the peaks of the Dents-du-Midi chain tower over the French-Swiss Chablais.

Summits : Cime de l’Est (3178 m), Forteresse (3164 m), Cathédrale (3160 m), Eperon (3114 m), Dent Jaune (3186 m), Doigts (3205 m) and Haute Cime (3257 m).

The starting points of the circuit are accessible by car, train and postal bus via Aigle, Chamonix (F), Martigny, Monthey or St-Maurice:

  • Champery
    By car: A9 motorway, exit at St-Triphon, follow signs to Champery
    By train : CFF to Aigle, then regional “AOMC” (TPC) train to Champery
    From Champery to Barme : shuttle bus (ideal for rapid trail access, get out at the stop “Pour Bonavau“)
  • Mex
    By car: A9 motorway, exit at St-Maurice, follow signs to Mex
    By train and postal bus : CFF to St-Maurice, then postal bus to Mex
  • Monthey/Les Giettes
    By car: A9 motorway, exit at St-Triphon, follow signs to Monthey
    By train : CFF to Aigle, then regional “AOMC” (TPC) train to Monthey and postal bus to Les Giettes
  • St-Maurice
    By car: A9 motorway, exit at St-Maurice
    By train and postal bus : CFF to St-Maurice
  • Salvan/Van d’en Haut
    By car: A9 motorway, exit at Martigny, follow signs to Salvan
    By train : CFF to Martigny, change to the regional “MOMC” Mont Blanc Express train (TMR) to Salvan, then TMR postal bus to Van d’en Haut
    From Chamonix (F) : “MOMC” regional Mont Blanc Express train to Salvan, then TMR postal bus to Van d’en Haut
  • Vérossaz/La Doey
    By car: A9 motorway, exit at Bex, follow signs to Vérossaz
    By train and postal bus : CFF to St-Maurice, then postal bus to Vérossaz

Depending on snow conditions, the Dents-du-Midi circuit is practicable from June to October. At the beginning of the season, check on snow conditions at the Susanfe pass, on the Salanfe side. Snow remains there the longest. In general, only the “Winter Way” is accessible until the beginning of July.
